Young Communist Leaders

Model Young Communist Leaders Pt. 1

by Brian Nunez

To be a young Communist leader today is not to wear rebellion like fashion. It is not to seethe at the world from behind a screen or retreat into small circles that mirror our frustrations back at us. To be a young Communist leader today in the heart of the most developed capitalist country in history is to master the science of revolution and building discipline. It is to live and think as a representative of a future society – while still being born within the old.

We live in a time of deep contradictions. The youth of America inherit both the highest level of technological development in human history and the greatest social decay. We command information from every corner of the globe in seconds, yet we struggle to organize our own lives meaningfully. We are told to “express ourselves” but are denied any power to transform the world around us. The ruling class, sensing the restlessness of our generation, has learned to sell despair as rebellion to turn disillusionment into a market and anger into aesthetic. “Radical” style and thinking is tolerated; revolutionary seriousness and discipline is shunned.

Against this background, young Communists must stand as a new type of person: disciplined, scientific, collective, and optimistic. We do not imitate the cynicism of the old world we are here to leave our mark on humanity and change it for the better.

Youth’s Historical Moment

Every ruling class attempts to shape the youth in its own image. America has trained young people to chase comfort, consume endlessly, and distrust collective discipline. It wants workers who can code but cannot organize, who can post opinions but cannot lead or listen. The ideal “modern youth” under capitalism is endlessly expressive but politically harmless.

But this generation has also inherited something the capitalists cannot control: a hunger for meaning. Every flash of moral outrage, every cry for justice, every rejection of hypocrisy are distorted reflections of revolutionary potential that has yet to find form. That form can only be given by a Party spearheaded by the science of Marxism-Leninism and by its organizational capacity directing human liberation.
